‘Between Her Legs’
by
She held the cello
with hands and legs
becoming one
with the instrument
like a Picasso painting
reflecting something
more real in abstraction
the soul revealed
by the heart
where the illusions
of the mind fade away
and I found myself
wishing she could play
a blues song
on that big sideways
guitar of hers
but she was a rebel
and played
the Devil’s jazz
wasn’t sad
and wasn’t classical
just too true
for words.
