Painters' Exhalations

Felino Soriano

Painters’ Exhalations 200
(After Guy Pène Du Bois’ Lawyers)

Disguised voices, though brazen
amid light’s open shirt,
arranging
      a
       trickery

              lying
within the coat sleeves
of defense stratagems

                         or

contemplating chokeholds
containing
        literature
hiding
            within the eyes
                             of
the blameless found
steamrolled by barrage’s

categorized

guilt?

Painters’ Exhalations 201
(After Giuseppe Dangelico Pino’s Early Morning)

She
barely
    dressed and more alert
than the cluttered bed
          of cotton warmth
she sits atop
        nearly
           levitating.
A living mirror
decorated sameness as
               morning’s outfit
drapes
         from the breasts
of a swirling air

             honeymooning
before eruption of
voices
         declares an end
to white flags
waving,
            a brand of peace
rarified in percentages
of miniscule existence.

Painters’ Exhalations 202
(After Kathleen McCloud’s Be Melting Snow)

Dissipation exists in the outlining
of evasive salmon heads
diving,
marble eyes leading,
        performing
brief spells of aerial commands
            prior
to the lake gorge
disconnecting swerving
fins from
the eyes of massive, paw-swiping
grizzlies gone
fishing.         Dissipation
as the fingerprints of snow’s
powdered touch
creating sculptured
            topographic
contours, lying still amid the ground’s
risen knees, saluting freedom
         prior
to light’s hands
unzipping
           body heat
    descending
imprinting self
as does
      the
              indifferent
dog, gone from the watching
leash, leather
   and
overwhelming request’s
from the owner’s all-alone
surroundings.
