Painter's Vision

Melissa Slachetka

He took the bitter from my hands
A smile like cinnamon
He took my breath
Chewing on ash; chewing on pens
Swirl like paint cans the white and grey cats
Tipped
By mistake
They painted the world
He painted my eyes
When I was blind
Reading Braille through my palms
Words like drunken tongues
