Submission Guidelines

We accept fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, sequential art, fine art, audio recordings, short films, photojournalism, reviews…this is not meant to be an exhaustive list.

We do not accept simultaneous submissions. We do not accept previously published work.

For all submissions, please include a bio written in the third person. If you do not include a bio and we accept your work, we will make something up. It will be complimentary, but likely not factual.

Also, so we know you’ve taken the time to read these guidelines, please include your favorite type of pie, as well as how you found our publication.

Word count should not exceed 5,000 words unless we are serializing a longer piece.

To submit your written work, please use one of the following methods:

1/Include your work as an attachment. If there is more than one piece in the attachment, separate them with page breaks. Please number your pages and include your name on each page. We accept .doc, docx, and .rtf files.

2/Paste your work in the body of an e-mail.

To submit visual art, please attach a jpeg to your e-mail. Jpegs should be no less than 200 dpi and 800 pixels on the longest side of the image.

To submit audio or video work under 10MB, e-mail it as an attachment; above 10MB, please host it via an external site and send us a link.

The usual turnaround time for responses is four weeks. If six weeks have gone by and we have not contacted you regarding your submission, you should contact us to follow up.

If we have not previously published your work, please wait six months before sending us new submissions.

We will edit your work if needed, however, if the mistakes are so glaring that it's obvious you've not proofread it beforehand, this will reflect poorly on you and lower the chances of acceptance.

We, of course, encourage you to read pre-existing issues to get a feel of the kind of work we like, but we also want original things. You will impress us by sending us something we haven't already seen. We will impress you by genuinely appreciating your work and by posting it here for the entire literate world to see.

Send all written submissions to: submit@aforementionedproductions.com and all visual art submissions to jflynch@aforementionedproductions.com.

Legal blah-de-blah. We reserve first printing rights. Other than that, all other rights are held by the author. If you should reprint anything that first appeared in apt, we ask that you acknowledge that it was seen here first. We can keep your writing on our site as long as we'd like, even in archives. We reserve the right to possibly print your piece in an anthology.

Because we make no money publishing apt, we do not currently pay contributors. Should we ever make the jump to print, we will (at the very least) send contributors' copies.
