First Poem from Taiwan

Peter J. Field

On vacation in Taiwan with a scraping cough,

Deprived the quiet comfort of a cigarette,

I endured the indignities of the deaf, the dumb,

And got what pleasure I could from a bottle of weak Taiwan Beer.

Second Poem from Taiwan

Peter J. Field

You there, with the bag of groceries!

You don't know that while you were in the store,

The finest-looking pregnant stray cat was showing an interest in your scooter,

Sniffing and licking the mudflap.
