Susan Sontag hates you Mr. Interview by Rachel Mindell

I despise
the photos
Annie took
of me reclining
as though
liberated
from her
magnum
shutter.
Am I
invisible?
On my back
I appear
relaxed and
thus terribly
unfavorable.
No I don’t
go in for
natural.
Nothing
on this world
doesn’t get
fucked. Of
the ones
I truly loved
five women
four men
only one
Annie:
pregnant
looking straight
into the camera.
You drive
she seems
to mouth.
Yes maybe
we pissed
off some
uptight
wasps hours
late but if you
aren’t angry
why even bother
being upright?
I don’t have to
be correct
to resent
the weight
of my watch.
To determine
whiteness a
sarcoma
AIDS an
agenda my left
breast worthy of
my right hand.
I resent how
they quote me
how I’m
concerned
only for what
I can admire
how I won’t
light candles
to anyone.
Doll you sure
as shit better
not light
anything
for me.
